Distortion

Artwork featuring a character of mine, testing out a way to render visual distortion.

Supernatural powers and beings in this character's world are not visible to the average person. But rather than direct invisibiliy, it's more like a jumble of wavelengths the mortal mind can't comprehend. They appear like a burnt photo or a blindspot the brain is desperately trying to fill in with surrounding colors, but in the end all anyone sees is a distorted mix of visual snow and colorful afterimages, as if one had been staring into a bright light for too long.
